Odyssey Golf is owned by Callaway and as such retains the quality that you would expect from this fine golf equipment manufacture. Odyssey golf was purchased by Ely Calloway in 1997. He quickly brought innovation to the company that has made Odyssey golf a top of the line golf equipment manufacture. The company’s White Steel 2-ball SRT putter is a prime example of new thinking when it comes to golf putter design.

Calloway is best known for its big Bertha Drivers that have set the standard worldwide. Ely Calloway purchased half of a small golf club manufacture that specialized in placing steel shafts cores within hickory club shafts to add durability and performance. This led him to become the CEO of

Hickory Stick USA and in 1988 changed the name of the company to Calloway Golf Company.

Arnold Palmer, General of Arnie’s Army, was speaking of golf, but he could have been describing his own life when he said, “Success in golf depends less on strength of body than upon strength of mind and character.” His sense of fairness, kindness toward everyone, and dry sense of humor have made him one of the most popular golfers to ever play the game. And he was pretty darned good at the game, too!

As a world-famous golfer, Arnold Palmer won a majority of his 92 championships on the U.S. PGA tour. The only “major” he never won was the PGA Championship, although he finished second in three of them. Probably most noted for being the first

pro to win four Masters Tournaments, it’s not surprising to find that he started playing golf at the ripe old age of four. He worked hard at developing his golf game throughout most of his life, and it shows with some of the prestigious awards he’s won including: the 1960 Hickok Professional Athlete of the Year, the 1960 Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year, and even Athlete of the Decade for the 1960s in a national Associated Press poll. The awards culminated in 2004 when President Bush awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in a ceremony at the White House.

Meadowlark Country Club is located on the southern edge of the city limits of Melrose, Minnesota. Melrose is the childhood home of my wife, and I have played at Meadowlark Country Club many times over the years. In this article, I am going to cover not only the layout of the course, but the unique sense of family that make up this and many other member owned, municipal or mom and pop operated 9-hole golf courses in Minnesota.

On the day in early May that I played Meadowlark Country Club most recently, my wife and I had made the trip for her to attend a family baby shower. I thought it would be nice to mix in some golf with my

father-in-law one of my brothers-in-law and a couple of nephews. You know that you are either part of a large family or in a small town and maybe perhaps both when you arrive at the golf course with that many family members and you also discover upon check in at the Pro-shop that one of your nieces is working behind the counter that afternoon.

Since his third place finish at the Augusta National in the Masters on April 9th, Tiger Woods has not played. Since the passing of Tigers father Earl Woods, things have been more of a reality check for the PGA’s Megastar. Tiger Woods does,however, intend on playing at the US Open between the 15th-18th of June.

Tuesday Tiger Woods was just outside Little Rock, at the Alotian Club where he made his first appearance that was related to golf. Woods was giving to his younger fan base, as there was a clinic for the Inaugural Jackson T. Stephens Charitable Golf Tournament. Children from the Stephens supported charities watched and listened to this golf, great as he offered advice to young golfers on

the mechanics of swings.
