Meadowlark Country Club is located on the southern edge of the city limits of Melrose, Minnesota. Melrose is the childhood home of my wife, and I have played at Meadowlark Country Club many times over the years. In this article, I am going to cover not only the layout of the course, but the unique sense of family that make up this and many other member owned, municipal or mom and pop operated 9-hole golf courses in Minnesota.

On the day in early May that I played Meadowlark Country Club most recently, my wife and I had made the trip for her to attend a family baby shower. I thought it would be nice to mix in some golf with my

father-in-law one of my brothers-in-law and a couple of nephews. You know that you are either part of a large family or in a small town and maybe perhaps both when you arrive at the golf course with that many family members and you also discover upon check in at the Pro-shop that one of your nieces is working behind the counter that afternoon.

Palm Springs Golf

There’s probably no better place in the United States to play golf than in Palm Springs, California. This beautiful location is host to many, many golf courses that give amateurs and pros the chance to best the course while basking in the beautiful California weather. There are more than a hundred golf courses in the Palm Springs area, and most of them are of a professional quality that you won’t find anywhere else in the United States. The Palm Springs region, with its world-class golf courses and destination golf resorts, while not as large, is rapidly becoming the West Coast version of the Myrtle Beach golf scene. You have your choice of several different professional level courses when you travel to Palm Springs to golf. The great California weather makes it a premier, year-round vacation destination for golfers.

To many Golfing enthusiasts the best vacation is a Golfing vacation. It’s a great way to get a group of friends together and bond in ways only golfers know. Golf is very revealing about ones personality.

There are few poker faces on the golf course and the physical and mental demands of the game take hold of the persona and shake out that solid corporate person you left at the office. There are some wonderful northern hemisphere locations for golfing vacations: Ireland, Scotland and Florida. But for those who want to venture further a-field in off-season, consider heading south to New Zealand.

Although the sister courses of Royal New Kent and Stonehouse are only a 15 minutes-drive apart, they are actually miles apart in terms of character, personality and what a golfer should expect to experience. The twin courses are actually very different from each other.

Royal New Kent is set upon the low hills between Diascund Creek and Chickahominy River, between Williamsburg and Richmond, Virginia. When the Royal New Kent opened in 1997, it was named the Best New Upscale Public Course in the Nation by Golf Digest magazine. In 1999 Golf Digest named it one of America s top 100 greatest golf courses.
